On the Coastal Trail 7:04pm Sick Day
Saturday
Another inspiring afternoon with my 94-year-old pal, Lucille. We cocktailed, laughed, and soul-searched. And then–a visit with Anne in her Huichol T!
Mimi Gets a Ribbon
A ribbon marker that is. On October 16, when Mimi's book comes out, it will come with a purple satin ribbon marker (purple is Mimi's favorite color). This one little thing makes me SO HAPPY. I've dreamed of having a ribbon marker for MIMI for such a long time–it's one of those things that proves I’m still an 8-year-old at heart. Every week for the past year I have pestered my art director Lauren about it. Yesterday she called and said, “Let’s choose a color for the ribbon!” Thank you, Lauren, for working this out!

The Cricket ran out and snapped this photo today as Tom and I were wondering what had happened to our ride to the airport. See what I mean about living in the land that time forgot? Of course we love living in the land that time forgot, but soon we may be leaving.

Two Birthday Celebrations
Yes, it is still my birthday. Ms Mushly treated me to lunch at Vanida Thai, after which we visited Anne in her gallery. Later, Carmen celebrated her 12th birthday. There she is trying to decide which of her presents to open first.

Work in Progress
FOG Photos
One of my very favorite jobs is taking photos at FOG. I love taking portraits of the artists at their opening parties. Yesterday Paige Laverty's show, All Things Ocean, opened. Last month, Joseph Zirker (below, age 94) showed his joyful work. The hardest part is keeping the artists occupied while I strive to get their art somewhat square with my iPhone. I now have a collection of thirty different FOG artists. Some recent ones:
Joe Zirker is presently working on a show scheduled two years from now.
Jeffrey Nemeroff at the opening of his show. Doesn't his hair look like a wave?
